how we became rebels
Rebel Fare is a fresh, exciting food and community-based organization. Chef and owner Kirby’s (aka Mama K) goal is to use food to fuel projects to build Oakland. Bringing together a variety of cuisines, cultures, and techniques, Rebel Fare is gaining momentum in the Bay Area. Through the arts of butchery and baking to curating cocktails to sourcing, our appreciation for food + beverage and hospitality only grows.
As we grow, so will our style and taste. We experiment with flavor, technique, and our love to push boundaries. We push to make people rethink what they know and are used to. We give classic flavors with a little something new for each dish. We don’t go by the norm. We REBEL against doing one type of cuisine, one type of style. We use tradition as our foundation to build a different approach of cooking, sharing, and experiencing exciting flavors.

Growing up in East Oakland, I grew up in a food desert. I was not aware of many different cuisines or food choices. I want to help encourage many others to explore in a comfortable tasteful way. Just because you had something one way doesn’t mean its bad. Let us open your eyes AND TASTE.
